REIGN OF VOLDEMORT: THE RULES
I understand the rules can be a little overbearing but they are in place for a reason, if you break one then expect there to be consequences, they are in place so that everyone can have a fun RP experience on the site. To try and avoid the boredom that comes with reading rules I have tried to make them as simple as possible, this means that not everything is explained in depth. If you have a problem with one of the rules or you don't understand them then PM me directly and I will discuss it with you. If you do not do this you are stating that you understand and agree to the rules of the forum.
There is no special word that you have to find, no password or phrase to type, but please ensure you read the rules and understand each individually because the consequences will be the same whether you have read them or not

General Board Rules
1. Discrimination/Prejudice of any kind will not be tolerated OOC. I realise there will be some IC discrimination but please keep it there.
2. Do not post anywhere IC until your application is accepted (this includes celeb/ability/etc claims). You may post in the OC boards.
3. No advertising outside the appropriate areas; they are there for a reason; this includes via PM and in your signature. In your profile there is a place for your site link to go; you are allowed to add your site there.
4. Please be active (online and posting IC at least twice a week) and notify us in the absences board if you are leaving or unable to be online for the minimum 2 days a week (board can be found in the public opinions office)
5. No OOC fights, if there is a problem you have with another member PM an administrator and we will help you sort it out.
6. Please notify us of all the accounts you hold on the forum so we can keep track. You do this by posting in the who plays who thread.
7. You must have an avatar OR signature displaying your character's celeb. Please refrain from having other celebrities (unless they represent relatives on the forum) in your sig or av. You are allowed to have both if you wish, naturally.
8. Please keep avatars at 100x100 so smaller, no larger. Signatures should not exceed 500x300, anything larger takes too long to load and stretches the forum.
9. Admins word is law. If asked to do something by an admin or member of staff please do not argue; if you have issues with it PM me to make a complaint.
10. Please ensure that your display name is set to your character's first and last name, properly capitalised (see my character's names as examples).
Character Rules
1. You are permitted a maximum of 5 characters. If you are active with all characters then you may PM an admin to request a sixth. We will decide on a case by case basis.
2. Of your total characters only 3 are permitted to have a special ability OR Quidditch position OR prefect/head student position (please don't have 3 characters with the same position). You cannot have one character with all three positions, however.
3. Any sexual orientation is allowed
4. No Mary-Sue's or God-Modding. We are all suppose to be at a decent level, I don't want to see this.
Role-Playing Rules
1. All threads should be dated (please see the current timeline and the wizarding information boards for more)
2. Two decent paragraphs or more per post (this works out to be around 300 words or more a post)
3. Swearing is permitted to an extent... if you don't like this then edit your personal censored words in your profile
4. Please RP in at least one class thread at all times when Hogwarts is open
5. No lengthy OOC chat in IC threads, keep it to PMs, the Chat Box and the OOC boards, that's what they are there for.
6. Write in third person and nothing else when posting IC. In relationships threads its ok to post in first person.
The following two RP rules I have deemed it necessary to give in detail, please ensure you understand them completely before proceeding to your application.
7. PREGNANCIES, MARRIAGES, RELATIONSHIPS, SEX, VIOLENCE: PERMITTED WITH RESTRICTIONS!
The first golden rule; all pregnancies and marriages along with deaths must be run past an admin before RPing, this is because these are classified as subplots on occasion. No teenage pregnancies or marriages. If an administrator does not like the plot then it will not go ahead. In accordance with how I have had the TOS explained to me, the site needs to be kept PG-13, this is to say that if you would not find what you are RPing in a PG-13 movie then do not post it. Sex, the use of drugs and excessive violence are forbidden in RP, placing a warning in the title of the thread is still against the TOS and can have the site removed completely. You can, however, make reference to these things having happened provided that you do not: a) go in to graphic detail or b) glorify the usage of illicit substances. Wikipedia defines the PG-13 classification as follows:
PG-13 - Parents Strongly Cautioned - Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13. Films given this rating may contain sexual content, brief or partial nudity, some strong language and innuendo, humor, mature themes, political themes, terror and/or intense action violence. However, bloodshed is rarely present. This is the minimum rating at which drug content is present; with the exception of Austin Powers and Click. Marijuana smoking is the only illegal drug use that can be depicted in a PG-13 movie, with the exception of Forrest Gump, in which a brief scene depicts an actress snorting cocaine. While PG-13 films usually have more profanity than PG films, this is not necessarily the case. A film that is given a PG-13 rating due to profane language and/or racial insults is given this rating because it contains more of these elements than a PG rating would permit, or the film contains uses of stronger profanities than a PG would permit. A film rated PG-13 for "intense violence" is given this rating if blood is present in a violent way. In recent years, this rating has been used for the majority of American films released.
If you find something that deviates from this please let an administrator know immediately. Deviations from this rule can result in the site itself being removed not just the person in question so it is important that you bring this to our attention. The process we would like you to use on this site if the sex/drugs/violence is too graphic but required for plot development is to use the "blackout" process. This means that you can RP everything up to the point before it gets graphic (before clothes are removed, before a final stab is taken, before the drugs are used) and then you end the thread or "black it out" and begin a new one for the after events. Do not mention in graphic detail that it occurred or what occurred but you can make reference to it. Think of a PG movie where you see the heavy snogging scene, they tumble into bed and then the scene skips to later on where they are talking about it and the clothes are on.
8. ALL PLOTS ARE TO BE RUN BY THE MAIN ADMIN BEFORE RPING
Anything life changing or major is considered a plot. This includes; marriage, pregnancies, rivals becoming romantically involved, new evil rising, etc, etc. If you have a plot like this, pm it to me and I shall read over it, if I like it it shall be added to the plots board, if not then you cannot begin rping it. Check out the plots and subplots board (under the Hogwarts Rebels board, Plots and Subplots Subboard) to see what defines as a plot. Remember; subplots can help you and those Rping with you as well as those who would like to RP your family.
Note; I don't usually refuse subplots unless they contradict some that have already been created so don't worry that your plot won't be accepted because its about an original character or something like that, I still have to approve before they are RPed though
